The mega event attracted a lot of people from all around Australia, and a massive 100,021 attendance was reported. After 37 years, Richmond Tigers came under the light of glory and took the Cup home. African Cup of Nations is a Major football event of Africa, where all the African nations compete against each other for the Cup of Glory. This year the finalists were Egypt and Cameroon.  7. Rafael Nadal VS Roger Federer: Australian Open 2017

This year’s nail biting Australian Open Final match was one of the most intense tennis matches of all time. Federer won the match to 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 and defeated Nadal for the first time in 10 years, in a Grand Slam Final. Federer also extended his record of the most Grand Slam titles won (18). 6. Egypt VS Congo: FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

This year FIFA World Cup, 2018 qualifiers took place all around the world. One of the most intense matches during the qualifier was the match against Egypt and Congo. Egypt needed the win to qualify and their hopes were shattered after the goal by Arnold Bouka in the 87th minute. Egypt didn’t give up and something amazing happened, they were awarded a penalty in the 95th minute of extra time. The penalty was taken by Mohamed Salah, and that secured their spot the in the FIFA World Cup Finals.  5. Floyd Mayweather VS Conor McGregor: Fight of the Century

The Notorious VS Money was one of the biggest fights in the history of boxing. With a lot of money on the line, the prize money was set in millions. After a lot of Mocking by McGregor, Mayweather came back from his retirement for one last match.  4. Pakistan VS India: ICC Champions Trophy Final, 2017

The biggest rivals in the history of sports, Pakistan and India, went face to face on a very prestigious stage. The underdogs Pakistan, who were in 8th position on the ICC ODI ranking, where up against India, who were in the 2nd position on the ranking. Pakistan put in everything they had, all their effort and hard work, and eventually it was all paid off when they defeated India by 180 runs. Pakistan defeated India in ICC Champions Trophy for the first time and also won their maiden Champions trophy.  The picture shows the captain Sarfraz Ahmad celebrating the win after taking the winning catch.


 3. England VS Australia: Rugby League World Cup Final, 2017

This year, in the finals, Australia took the rivals, England, very lightly and England gave them a very tough challenge. Australia barely crossed the finish line to lift up the cup, and even in the dying moments, England was getting really hard to defend. In the end Australia won the World Cup for the 11th time, with the score 6-0. The picture shows Australian team celebrating the win.


 2. Atlanta Falcons VS New England Patriots: NFL Super Bowl, 2017

This year’s Super Bowl was a very nerve wrecking one; Atlanta Falcons faced New England Patriots, and changed the face of the game. Both teams played really well, and the biggest comeback in the history of Super Bowl, came from the Patriots. Patriots scored 25 points in the last 18 minutes, including the match winning try in the overtime period of the match. Tom Brady’s match winning try can be seen above.



 1. Real Madrid VS Juventus: UEFA Champions League Final, 2017

UEFA Champions league is one of the biggest football events, which takes place every year in Europe. In this tournament, the top 4 teams of all premier leagues in Europe compete against each other for the title of Champions of Europe. This year, the Champions Real Madrid was defending their title against Juventus. Real Madrid won the match but where given a very tough time by Juventus. The final score was 4-1 in favour of Real Madrid, and the Real Madrid lifted the title for the 12th time. The picture shows the final winning goal by Marco Asensio in the 90th minute.
